I graduated with a Graphic Design degree and was determined to start my career in an agency straight after university. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts and even an unsuccessful interview at One Degree North (curse you, Sam!), my first role was as a Digital Designer at a flat roofing company. Before long, I moved into a developer role and eventually found my way back to One Degree North as an Apprentice Web Developer.
Alongside my role, I completed a year-long, part-time development bootcamp with Northcoders. This gave me a solid foundation in both front-end and back-end development. While the course was great, I learnt more over the following years as a Web Developer at One Degree North. Although building websites remained my main focus, I developed a real interest in data, Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) and A/B testing. Today, my role is centred much more around CRO and data tracking across our digital portfolio. Whether it’s planning and designing CRO experiments, implementing accurate conversion tracking or still building websites, I enjoy finding practical ways to improve performance through data-driven decisions.
One project that stands out is Vasstech. I built the website they use today and now manage its ongoing CRO and A/B testing. It’s rewarding to continually refine something I’ve built, using data and experimentation to improve its performance over time and help deliver better results for the client.
